At the end of WWII, American combat veteran Jerry Mulligan attempts to make it as a painter in newly liberated Pari with the assistance of wealthy fellow ex-pat Milo Davenport. Jerry falls for Parisian shop girl and must compete for her affection with his friends Adam, a Jewish American composer and Henri, a French aristocrat.
