A musical from Stew and Heidi Rodewald, the creators of the Tony Award winning show Passing Strange, tells the tale of Marty Roy, a young black musical prodigy in Montgomery, heads to the studio with an English producer who is searching for a hit. The experience takes us back through Marty’s childhood and reveals his contentious relationship with his father, a gospel star in his own right, for whom he wrote many songs. Desperate to make his own mark, and bring his own sound to the world Marty must contend with the forceful views of his fathers and the social upheaval hitting America. A funny and fiery show about father and son, and the difficult choices between selling out or keeping it real.
