Just far enough from the throngs of bar-goers that populate the streets of the East Village on the weekends, Black & White still manages a pretty lean patronage without suffering from mortician's blues. Bar stools and a few sizable tables make it almost impossible for large parties to saunter in and find a place to plant themselves, leaving the crowd a bit less clustered and more sociable.
