Bowery Poetry Club

308 Bowery

The Bowery Poetry Club is a unique and unpretentious joint where poetry and art meet entertainment, technology and commerce. It comes as no surprise that the wizard behind the currtain of this enterprise is Bob Holman, the building’s owner and the club’s guiding light. Holman has earned his stripes, making a living as a poet and running readings for 25 years in the East Village. First at the St. Mark’s Poetry Cafe then the Nuyorican Poets Cafe where he founded and MCed their infamous Poetry Slams from 1988-1996.

There is a full bar as well as a small coffee shop offering all your usual health food type fare.
