Winner of FIVE 2015 Tony Award, Including Best Musical!
Alison Bechdel’s graphic novel turned into a musical. The story follows Bechdel’s own childhood and her uneasy relationship with her father, and her struggles with her sexuality. Bruce, a domineering and distant father, takes his own life soon after she reveals she is a lesbian. Bechdel is left to wonder what part her revelation may have played, particularly when she discovers that her father was gay as well, though never able to escape the closet.
This intimate and emotional theatrical experience is performed entirely in the round, bringing audiences closer to Alison’s story than ever before. Hailed as "the best musical of the season" by both The New York Times and New York Magazine, FUN HOME "demonstrates how much our world has changed and reflects just how far we’ve come" (The Wall Street Journal ).
