Acting For Comedians, A Two Week Intensive With Avriel Hillman

West Side Comedy Club

Acting for comedy is a very specialized skill. The most incredible comedians know how to translate their stand-up solo skills into scene work that can land them major performance roles.
This intensive is an exploration into the fundamental components a comedic actor needs to approach material and auditions, and integrate their unique authentic talent into characters that are outside of themselves.
This two-week immersive course will take students through scene analysis, acting fundamentals, voice work, scene study, and audition techniques, all of which are essential for those who want to understand how to expand their craft, appeal to a broader audience, and convert their comedic talent into additional creative endeavors. Plus comics are provided an opportunity to examine how their comedic routines may be enhanced by acting skills.
This intensive will be both rigorous and lots of fun, and will require focus both in class and through homework. This course will have both solo work as well as collaborative work with classmates.
Participants in this class will also receive a discount on any private sessions with the teacher which can be dedicated to either their routines or other material they wish to work on to help prepare them for acting with comedy.

Interviews prior to class will be required so proper material can be assigned, suiting the participant’s individual needs.
PLUS For an additional cost, students can add-on an extra rehearsal day & participate in an evening showcase of their scenework
