One of the most attractive and charming food stores in Manhattan, prices are certainly steep, though not out of line for today's SoHo. With a superior selection of meats, cheeses, fish, preserves, kitchen supplies, cookbooks, chocolates and most any other gourmet products you can think of, it remains an extremely pleasant experience shopping here. That is, one you get past the masses crowded outside and at the coffee bar near the entrance. In fact, even when noisy crowds throng the front of the store the back can be remarkably quiet. While the flowers, fruits and vegetables are nice enough eye candy, it's the fabulous selection of breads from New York's top bakeries, a decent selection of cakes and pastries, and nicely prepared sushi items that round out the beautiful displays.
